Rainforest Cruises adds Peru lodge option

Rainforest Cruises is offering a package that combines a stay at the Treehouse Lodge in Iquitos, Peru, with one of its Peruvian Amazon cruises.

The Miami-based Rainforest Cruises sells cruises and packages on the Peruvian and Brazilian Amazon.

The Treehouse Lodge experience will be combined with an Amazon River cruise onboard the eight-passenger Cattleya.

The cruise-tour begins with a two-night stay in the Treehouse Lodge, a 345-acre property in the jungle at the confluence of the Yarapa and Cumaceba rivers, where guests will have the opportunity to view rainforest wildlife from the treetops.

The lodge has 18 bungalows that are between 25 feet off the ground and 65 feet above ground. They are equipped with en suite showers and are sealed by a fine mosquito mesh.

Daily activities include daytime and nocturnal jungle walks to learn about medicinal plants, or to spot insects and night monkeys, piranha fishing in dugout canoes, early morning bird-watching, dolphin-watching, visiting a butterfly farm and visits to the local Jibaro and Kukama communities.

A six-day cruise and lodge package is $2,499 for double occupancy and $3,139 for single occupancy, per person. Included in the tour is a two-night stay in the Treehouse Lodge with full meals and choice of excursions, a four-day Amazon cruise aboard the Cattleya, all transfers and bilingual naturalist Amazon guides.
